About Flint

Flint, Texas, tells a story of transformation from peaceful farmland to thriving lake community. The settlement began to take shape in the late 1800s as part of Smith County’s agricultural development. While the exact details of Flint’s earliest days aren’t extensively documented, the community grew steadily alongside the region’s farming traditions.

The area’s character changed significantly with the creation of Lake Palestine in the late 1960s, which brought new recreational opportunities and development to the region. This man-made reservoir became a defining feature of the community, attracting both weekend visitors and permanent residents seeking lakeside living.

In recent decades, Flint has evolved into a sought-after suburban community, drawing families who appreciate its blend of country living and modern convenience. Its strategic location between Lake Palestine and Tyler has made it particularly attractive to those wanting to escape city life while maintaining easy access to Tyler’s amenities. Today, Flint stands as a testament to thoughtful growth, maintaining its small-town charm while embracing its role as one of Smith County’s desirable residential communities.

Climate

Flint, Texas, enjoys a classic East Texas climate that supports our outdoor lifestyle year-round. Our summers bring the warmth that lake lovers appreciate, with sunny days perfect for enjoying Lake Palestine’s refreshing waters. July and August temperatures typically climb into the 90s, making those lake breezes especially welcome.

Winters are generally mild and brief, though we do get occasional cold snaps that remind us we’re Texans, not Floridians. These cooler months are ideal for outdoor activities and yard work, with daytime temperatures usually remaining comfortable. Spring and fall are our showpiece seasons, offering pleasant temperatures and moderate humidity that draw folks outdoors to enjoy our natural surroundings.

Like most of East Texas, we receive generous rainfall throughout the year, keeping our landscape lush and green. While snow is a rare treat, when it does appear, it tends to create quite a buzz in the community! Our climate supports year-round outdoor living, whether you’re enjoying a summer day on the lake, tending a fall garden, or taking in a mild winter afternoon on your porch.
